In his time, it was not be safe career wise to admit to being anything other than heterosexual. I am not saying he was a cross-dresser or not straight. I don't know. He has been dead since 1961, so none of us know for sure. I work in mental health and am an advocate for he LGBTQ community. Most cross-dressing men are heterosexual. Everything I can find on him shows photos of him with friends (Tony Curtis, Sammy Davis, etc), playing softball, and with his ex-wife and/or females he dated. I like that he could sing, act, and play the violin. I like that he was also a democrat who was proud of being Jewish. He grew up poor and became successful through hard work. He was human like the rest of us. The only bad thing I have seen is that he cheated on his wife with Esther Williams, which led to a divorce. That stands out more to me than her complaining of him occasionally dressing as a woman privately for personal reasons. May be true or may not be. My point is that does not discount who he was in any way. I have not read Williams' book, but have read articles and seen interviews of her indicating her relationship history. I would have picked a guy who might have occasionally liked to play dress up privately over Llamas who abused her for decades and forced her to not have her kids from a prior marriage live with them. However, I am not her and can see why if this occurred it might have been difficult to deal with. Regardless, it is a shame that he died too soon. I enjoyed his work and most of us will never know him personally to where his sexual orientation even matters. It would have been interesting if he had lived long enough to write his own autobiography. In the meantime, you can find a lot of his movies online for free. Enjoy them. Some of them are very funny. My favorites are: Toy Tiger, Because of You, the Plunderers, Foxfire, and The Lady Takes a Flyer. His final known relationship was with actress Barbara Shelley who he starred with in A Story of David. She called him the love of her life. Love is love. Unconditional love includes complete acceptance of another. I will end my comment on that note.B.Stewarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09387109837895021659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13393846.post-78778232298482414102023-01-18T00:26:34.024-08:002023-01-18T00:26:34.024-08:00Chandler wasn't a cross-dresser. Confidential ...Chandler wasn't a cross-dresser. Confidential magazine followed him many times, and wrote an article about an affair he had with Gloria DeHaven. If he'd had any other hobbies, they would've pounced on them, like they did with Dan Dailey, who DID like to wear women's clothing.
