On the stage of greatness Patti stands miles above all others and its all god given the lady had no music or voice training and she is a lady with so much class and elegance she needs to be reconized for the greatest singer of all time . I would love to see her honored at the Kennedy center , should have been done long ago . I am for honoring her so much more than she has been honored. I will continue to help her get the honor she so richly diserves because I love and adore her forever . Maybe he was constrained by Mercury but allowed to do as he pleased at Columbia??

A lot of what Mitch Miller did was perfectly fine for the times...his "Sing Along" TV show, his "Colonel Bogey March." But I think he did some damage to Patti, and when you look at what Nelson Riddle, Gordon Jenkins and other tasteful arrangers were doing, you wish Patti had not been yoked to Farmer Miller.

Then again, even tasteful Bob Mersey screwed up a lot of Patti's arrangements, going for the middle aged back-up singers, etc. Just sad.
I'm not sure Patti objected to any of it, and may even prefer listening to her worst Columbia tracks...

...I just wish her catalog didn't contain so much dated material, and that she gets some kind of recognition soon.Ill Folkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08208537275049364194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13393846.post-87832036942026833492012-04-01T15:02:35.520-07:002012-04-01T15:02:35.520-07:00Er, Lee again, under a different sign-in.Er, Lee again, under a different sign-in.alphonsegastonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15774392678821865733noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13393846.post-73807163503717143272012-04-01T15:01:59.592-07:002012-04-01T15:01:59.592-07:00Agreed--she is vastly underrated. And her multi-tracked harmonies are the model for pop music.
